Maria madel- Nazi
Mandel worked at many death camps during the war but the one
that she was held responsible for was the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp where
she killed 500,000 Jews. She impressed her leader in a very short time because
she ruled these camps with absolute authority. Mandel became the highest
ranking leader at the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp. She only had to report to
a male higher than her because of the Nazi rules where a male should never be
under a woman. She was nicknamed the beast because of her ways and how she
would greet the new prisoners. Mandel would stand at the gate and if someone
looked at her, she would take them out of line and murder whoever looked at
her. Sometimes Mandel would pick a Jew to be her “pet,” and she would have them
walk around with her until she was tired of them and then Mandel would have
that person executed. Maria Mandel was sent to death on January 24th,
1948 and charged for the deaths of over 500,000 people during her time at the
death camp.
