World War II Tactics
Amphibious Operations: One greatly used war tactic in World War II was Amphibious Operations. The Navy and ground troops would land a large amount of troops on a beach. This tactic was used in the invasions of Iwo Jima, Normandy, Norway, and Okinawa.
Big Wing Strategy: The big wing strategy was used by the Royal Air Force during the Blitz. They would send mass amounts of fighter planes to intercept the Luftwaffe bombers. The strategies worked in taking down a number of German planes. However, it left other parts of Britain vulnerable.
Blitzkrieg: Also known as "Lightning war," was a fast paced war tactic used by Germany. Fast moving tanks followed by vehicles, infantry, and air crafts, would penetrate through enemy lines. Once they enemy lines were broke the force would loop back around and destroy the rest of the enemies army. This tactic was first used in the invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939.

Firestorms: The RAF and United States Air Force was area bombing German cities and came up with a tactic called firestorms. Planes would drop a highly combustible chemicals such as napalm on the cities. The chemicals would catch fire and would burn at extremely high temperatures. People and buildings would be sucked into the fire.

5. Bats: Bat were used by the U.S. during World War II. A series of tests were done that attached bombs to bats. The bats were supposed to fly over Japanese villages and explode setting fire to the buildings. Two million dollars was spent on this program. However, it failed because often times the bats would fly to unintended targets.
